The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation held its 18th Annual Awareness day Luncheon May 6, 2010, at the Vancouver Fairmont Hotel. Several AIAB members attended the event as guests and several as volunteers. The emcees for the luncheon were Pamela Martin, Anchor, CTV News and Valerie Casselton, Executive Editor of the Vancouver Sun.

The guest speaker was Dr. Paula Gordon who is on the 2020 Task Force as the new Chair of the Early Detection Working Group. The keynote speaker was Bif Naked, a Juno Award-winning, multi-platinum record selling Canadian rock singer. Bif was diagnosed with breast cancer just three months after her wedding. Bif’s presentation was truly one that could motivate any person to persevere and strive for life success and happiness. Her energy, sense of humour, enthusiasm and zest for life is amazing.

This most enjoyable lunch hour raised $130,000 to further support work in prevention, early detection, research, treatment, and emerging issues in the healthcare work force.
