Mardi passed away on 26th March 26 2003 at the age of 47.
Mardi started life in Nanaimo. She loved school, sports, nature, sailing and the ocean. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Victoria and graduated from SFU in Kinesiology. She moved to Toronto and graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Mardi moved back to BC and settled on the North Shore to practise her profession. She also began teaching Anatomy and Kinesiology and was loved by staff and students for her animated and energetic lectures.
After giving birth to her daughter Jesse, Mardi moved to Roberts Creek in search of nature, community and a shorter workweek. Life was perfect … until she was diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer in 1999. After treatment, Mardi joined Abreast In A Boat (Deep Cove) in 2001 and brought her enthusiasm, strength and laughter with her. She loved the paddling and the camaraderie. Unfortunately her cancer progressed and she was unable to paddle for more than one season. As Mardi said, “Cancer sucks!”
She will live on in the hearts of many.
