Faye Barichello passed away on July 26, 2005 at the age of 55. Faye was a novice on the False Creek Crew in 2003, but was not able to paddle for the full season.
Faye grew up in Langley, and graduated in 1973 from UBC with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was the winner of the Special University Prize for achieving the second highest standing in the class. Over her nursing career she worked at a number of institutions, including GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre and the BC Centre for Disease Control (CDC). While still working, Faye went back to school part-time, and received her Masters of Health Administration. She served on the faculty of Thompson Rivers University in the Home Support program, and worked on a hepatitis research program at the CDC.
Faye was survived by her seventeen year old twins Nick and Sophia Surowy, her mother Mae Barichello, three brothers and one sister.
