September 1948 – October 2015
Barb passed away at home on October 11 2015, surrounded by her supportive family. Her positive personality and friendly calm manner endeared her to all who met her. Barb joined Abreast In A Boat in 1999. She immediately became an active member on various committees and on the board as Membership vice chair and chair in 2004. She moved to Deep Cove with the North Shore Dragonbusters in 2007, where she continued to volunteer and add that special calmness and support to the team.
Barb had a delightful laugh as well as a calm voice and she was able to turn a difficult situation into a manageable task with her common sense approach to everything. Sharing her homemade soup and her famous chive biscuits–always a treat–she invited many of us to her comfortable home over the years for meetings and gatherings after a hike or just for a visit. Walking with her was amazing, going for miles chatting with never a dull moment and alway a positive outlook.
Her delightful daughters Sara, Erin and Jody were usually at the regattas cheering her team on in the first few years. She was remarkably proud of their accomplishments. They provided her with three wonderful sons-in-law and seven grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally.
We will miss this special friend and forever think fondly of our time together .
